Are there any adoption requirements?
Particular adoption requirements will be stated in the animal’s adoption listing but all applicants are required to have the agreement and cooperation of all people in the home to adopt, have renter’s permission, suitable fencing and housing, etc, etc. For details on what we require, please review the Adoption Application Form.
How to avoid picking the wrong pet?
Be honest with yourself (and FLAR) about what you have to offer and carefully consider what a dog/cat/puppy/kitten needs in terms of love, time and financial expense. Please speak with us to help estimate expenses over the average lifespan of the pet you are applying for. Importantly, remember a new pet is a lifelong commitment of over 15 years…can you commit to that?
Vet Q&A: Are pets for adoption healthy?
All our animals are checked by our vets and treated for any pre-existing conditions. Naturally, animals can develop health issues due to genetics, lifestyle or unexpected incidents however we are open and honest about conditions we are aware of at the time of adoption though it is critical that you ensure that should issues arise outside of FLAR’s responsibility, you prepared for financial expenses that may be incurred.
